Until we could say “No more!”, all we knew to do was to marvel at the sight of a strange skin colour and followed the bait of strange dish, articles foreknown not to us and a tongue hostile to our vocabulary. They bought the souls of some miscreants and poisoned them against their own flesh and blood. The pain of c. 1897 still stings –leading us to a world not known to us. They wiped our sweet memories of community and interrupted our quiet to-do life. This continued till 1960 when on our behalf, some individuals protested and “won” a freedom that was never lost. Our freedom was never lost but these colonialists have succeeded in unlearning us from our convictions and re-learning into us their unbalanced lifestyle such that even though they are “no longer in control,” they still hold sway over us and clearly are “still in control.”
